Royal Fish Pond in foreground at Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park. Known as a "Place of Refuge", where law breakers of ancient Hawaiian sacred laws, called kapu could go to escape punishment, usually death. There they could undergo a ceremony of absolution.
